Sounds like you might have a short somewhere in the starter circuit. First thing to do is follow the red battery cable that goes directly to the starter to see if you notice any kind of problem areas, such as burned or worn inuslation, corrosion at the connections, etc. You should also check in the same fashion the other wire from the starter to the starter relay in the engine compartment fuse box, as well as the black ground wire. Then check the relay itself.
check the starter seilanoide. i just had a pro with mine.turned the key and nohing happened except a click.so i figured the sarter was shot so i replaceed that with a new one and still had a prob.so i changed the selinoide and it started up just fine
We have checked the silanoide and that is not the problem. The fuse is located in the distribution box under the hood. The fuse is a 50 amp, and it is a big one! So if you know anything, please reply!
I checked my 1999 Ranger Shop Manual (Vols. 1 & 2) and found nothing on the Power Distribution Box. Also checked my Chilton Manual; all it has on the Power Distribution Box are drawings showing the locations of the fuses and other components. Couldn't find it on any of the wiring diagrams so I can't help you. Maybe someone else on this or other forums knows where to find a complete wiring diagram or schematic that shows the box. Sorry!
