Volant Vibration

Volant Vibration
I recently installed a Volant Intake system on my 5.4L and noticed when the truck is under a load on the highway that the intake seems to have a vibration/buzzing sound under acceleration. This happens just before it drops out of overdrive. When I tow my 6,500 pound trailer it's really noticable when accellerating up slight hills. Has anyone else had this problem or know of anyway to quiet/fix it? I'm thinking of installing some Dynamat on the inside of the airbox to help deaden the sound.

Dynamat would probably help out a lot.I am thinking about doing something like that to my Volant to help quiet it down a little.I think the plastic box causes the sound to resonate more than intakes without a box.You may want to call Volant and see if they have any suggestions.I always have a problem getting the (only) tech. on the phone so I gave up.Good Luck!

Ruckus,
That's kinda what I thought about the tech support considering the support on their site is pretty lame. I'll be towing in another week so if I can't find some Dynamat I might try your theory and remove the top cover of the air box to see if it quiets it down some. Since my trip will be 90% highway I'm not too concerned about heat from the engine compartment robbing me of a little performance. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks for your input.

Casba, We sure paid a lot of money for these intakes not to be perfected.I wish Volant was close by, I would take my truck in and show them that the sleeves they sent me are too short, my tire rubs on the ram air scoop and take them for a ride so they could listen and feel the vibration in my gas pedal.Anyway, removing the lid would be a good experiment.Let us know how it went.Have a good and safe trip.
