Best Oil Filter

Ok I was searching throught the older threads and there are threads on the best air filters, trany filters, etc, but nothing on oil filters for the 7.3

So I'm looking to change my oil here soon, and looking for a good filter?

Any ideas

I use the Motorcraft, cost about 10.00 at Wallyworld and since they no longer carry them I get them from Autozone for the same price. From what I have read on several posts here the Fram are junk!

I ran K & N Gold for a few years, excellent filter and a bit pricey.

I have the Oil Guard bypass filter system. When I was ordering new filters for the bypass, I noticed they sell extended interval, full flow, primary filters as well. THREE PACK for $24.00 plus shipping.

Gone through 4 so far and excellent Blackstone results (thanks to the bypass). I figured if any company knows about oil filtration, Oil Guard would.

I have to agree with HeatStroke on the K&N. Great filter, about 12.00 - 14.00 at Kragen. We run them in all our trucks and my buddy who introduced me to them about a year ago runs them in his fleet of trucks.

Filters

I used to run an International (LF569?) filter that had an extra quart capacity but it got to be about $30 for the filter. Now I run a Baldwin ( B7039 )whenever I can find them because after years of running heavy equipment we have learned these filter the best with the least drain back. If I cannot find Baldwin filters then I would run nothing less than the Motorcraft. Fram, AC and the like is downright garbage. I have never tried the K$N filters or Mobil 1.
You can buy a good filter reasonably priced. High price does not equal high filtration.

Good Luck,
Craig

If you look at the construction of the Amsoil filters, you'll see many similarities that are common to Baldwin. The oil filter study mentioned above believes they make them for Amsoil.

My second choice would be Fleetguard.

Fleetguard's lineup for the 7.3L PSD:

lf3630: good, celulose media, oem equivalent
lf3974: better, stratapore (synthetic) media
lf9027: best, venturi combo full-flow/bypass media
