This is new, I have a bad tach that will say 300 rpm once in awhile, can you tell if the engine is idling noticably slower?

i can hear the diffrence between 750 and 900, it sounds like the cold idle never kicked off

Is the truck running fine otherwise? I would be wondering if the IP isn't on its way out.

I have noticed my engine now idles at 900 when its warm out. used to idle at 800. I assume this is normal with temperature.?

So far thats the only thing I have really thought of, I'm sure there are others that could give you a better answer. It could also be getting air when it warms up but that usually makes it run a bit louder, idle rough or somthing similar.

high idle possibility

Have you considered your air conditioner?
When compressor starts, idle usually increases somewhat. Not sure how many RPMs.
Just a thought

Check the glow plugs, and see if any of the injectors are wet around the return line, as well as for any other possible air leaks before sayint the IP is causing the hard starting, then if no other probs are found we can get back to that one.
