well, after 130 pages of arcives I robably missed the same topic but here goes.
I have an 83 "C" class RV on E350 chassis and 460 4 bbl. Not sure of the carb but I think is a 4180 - only adjusting screws are the 2 on the front and small caps over the float adjustments on front/rear bowls.
Heres the problem - at idle it loads up like its flooded. After driving for just a few miles, its smokin out the pipe (black) like its still flooded. The auto choke appears to be opening up ok. What do I check next or ?? HELP!! as I need the unit this coming weekind..
Sounds like a stuck needle and seat. Possibly a small piece of debris has gotten into one of them. If possible, look down into the carb while idleing and see if gas is dripping into the front or rear barrels. If so, then the needle and seats must be checked. Could also have a pin hole in a float causing it to not float properly.
yup all of the above... but personally if it were my RV, I'd switch to a Edelbrock/ Carter, why ...well they're just better! that Holley will always require a rebuild if you let it sit too long...trust me i've done it to many times to count....
