Anybody out there have any problems on a cold start. Start it and it idles fine, drop in gear and it doesn't want to go, floor it and I hear popping in the engine like a back fire situation. It is fine after 30 seconds.
will do. mine has 2400. of couse after it goes to shop f/the hesitation problem and front end jitters when you hit a bump it goes to the body shop cause it got hit last week! Not a happy camper right now.
Same thing happening to my 05 with 2k miles on her. Started during a short roadtrip to Indy about a month ago and has not stopped since. The weather has been so nice here in Chicago I have been driving the Viper every day so I dont really mind, but please post the results of the service visit.
Ok fellows here are some observations of mine from 10 V10s over 5 years that I have personally driven.
These beasts prefer you to be slower on the startup, That means a momentary pause from run to start. Let the computers get well into their boot and self test processes. You will notice on start that they all run up to about 2000+rpm and quickly drop down to 1100-1300RPM. Let her settle there for a moment or two before stuffing the beast in reverse or drive!
I can make every one of the trucks buck and snort by just flipping the key and stuffing her in gear as she spins up. Happens every time!
If you are experiencing the buck, back pop, and snort after a hot start there is a problem. Get it checked out.
If you get it after a cold start, try slowing down your start sequence. If it still does it every cold start then off to the dealer for you.
If it is older and out of warranty check IAC first, MAF second, and O2 sensors third. Rarely the culprit but some early torque converters were sloppy and the lock up clutch acts weird especially on a hard used unit with oil soaked muddy trany electrical connector. Clean and service the interior (fluid n filter) and exterior of the trans. Properly cleaning the crap and corrosion out of the electrical connector.
I've noticed on cold start if you put it directly into gear before giving it just a little time(not much) it may sputter if not givin enough time to calibrate. It only takes maybe 20 seconds or so. Then off I go. I don't consider it a problem though. Considering the great truck that it is.
