What part of the emission test did you "almost didn't pass"? Showing the numbers might be a good thing too. The answer to this earlier question may help me/others steer you in the right direction rather than simply speculate. I like to diagnose rather than guess; it's usually cheaper that way .

BTW, and FWIW, the reason I asked about the pipe size earlier was because if the new cat has a smaller pipe size, and thus is more restrictive, then it may be possible to increase the temps of the combustion chambers when you have your foot into it. Such increase in temp is conducive to detonation.

1. Clean your MAF sensor. See thread at the beginning of this forum.
2. How long has it been since you replaced your spark plugs? May wish to take one out and see what they look like.

3. IF your truck has a MAP sensor, test it - again see thread at the beginning of this forum for technical help.

4. Air filter clean?

5. Intake manifold bolts snug?

Keep us updated - we'll keep ponderin.

Russ

To post attachments you have to be part of ClubFTE.. but you can place image tags.. so when you hit the button and it comes with link or whatever it says, you have to type in a URL.. that's because you have to have it hosted somewhere else.. the best place I know of is mine and my friend's website called antifloppy.com.. just go upload the pic there.

I think you took off the wiring, the part it came off of is the MAF.. I'm not 100% sure though.
