After looking tonight into all of my parts i am not sure what i have. The block is out to the machine shop and fully taken apart. So i will not be able to check bore and stroke.
In a book that i have i checked different casting numbers. The book does not cover all parts but just the major parts.
My Rods are C7AE-B which shows to be 428 1966-70 High Performance
The crank has a 7 stamped on one side and what looks to be a 28 or maybe 23
The heads are C8AE-H
The intake is a C4SE 9425 A
The timing chain cover is C8AE-6059-B
The rockers are C4AE
The water pump is D4TE 8505A2A
The rods are good and came with both 3/8" and 13/32" rod bolts. You need to check which you have. The C7-B rods with the bigger bolt version were used in the 428 CJ/PI and the small bolt in the std 390. The crank should have more numbers down on another one of the counterweights. IU,IUB for a 428 and 2U,2UA or even a C4 number for 390. Heads are std 360/390/428 application which I'm sure are in your book. Let me know of you need the specs if not.The C4SE-A intake is a 64 390 intake off the Galaxies and Tbirds 300HP. Timing cover is a 68 casting possibly but the number inside the ring of dots will tell for sure the year. Might be hard to see if painted but it's there. Rockers are the std aluminum stands and I'm guessing the number is off the stands. Water pump is a 74 truck casting I'm not familer with. So it appears to be a selection of 64 and 68 parts for the most part. The block we know is a 2 bolt motor mount block and most likely a 64 casting but you didn't mention the date code. And of course the missing casting number. So the engine is not original to itself but a nice selection of parts. Hope this helps....G.
Bet it's a regular ol 390. Imagine my feelings when I tore into my last FE and found 410 on the pistons. Turns out that it was just an old truck 390. I had one going for a little while.
One word of warning on rods... use ARP 3/8" bolts for them, don't bother machining them for 13/32" bolts. The larger bolts mean LESS material in the big end of the rod, which can make them fail QUICKER.
The best bet is 3/8" ARP bolts.
Everything else sounds like standard 390 stuff. The C8AE heads do NOT have hardened exhaust valve seats, so unless they were already done, DO get them done.

John
I am thinking like John. When i first took the heads off i checked the bore and stroke. kinda close to a 390. Then last night when i was checking over everything i started to see different things. I got the info out of my book for the heads. Then with the rods, no casting on the block, and the pistons having the 410 (on one side and another number (i am thinking like a mold number) on the other) what is this that i have?
The date code is (from the best that i can tell) 3E3 which i think is May 3 1963
