I will tell you why, because of the pussification of the nation by people like bill clinton and other pacifists... when they bombed the world trade center the first time, they should have carpet bombed the culprits. but what did they do ? nothing, bill clinton sat on his ##### and soaked up the tv coverage. If you do not retaliate they have nothing to fear. Bush will bomb and deystroy who ever did this or we are in for a world of hurt....

I will say now, that the very next person who cusses here and triggers a filter IS GONE. No warnings, no second chances. Discuss this issue without digressing into immaturity.

Whatever your beliefs, pray for the souls of those lost.

On the more evil side, when we find out who did this, I say nuke them all to smithereens.

It is a shame that whoever did this has actually accomplished their purpose. The buildings and dead are not important to their cause. The panic and terror are what counts for them. The fact that they got to see 3 world landmarks destroyed or damaged, the stinging of the "Great Demon USA", and the fact that now all our airports are shut down, many government facilities and schools are shut down. The fact that this will force America the land of the free, to act more like the totalitarian states they are probably supported by, this is what lets them win this battle.

At the time of this writing, 10:45 EDT, there are still more missing airplanes. God help those who are passengers in those.

Sadly,

Jim H.

About 20 minutes ago the south tower collapsed. Just 10 minutes ago the First tower collapsed and there is literally nothing left but a frame not standing more than half the original height of the building. This is disgusting and makes me sick. The pentagon has been hit, the White house is evacuated with anti-aircraft on the roof, police are now armed with automatic assault riffles, fighter jets are flying over head of the White House. Each of the World Trade Center towers has it's own zipcode, and each building is the workplace for approximately 25,000 people, 50,000 total. When each building was hit, nearly 20 floors were literally gone in seconds. The number of lies lost are not out yet, and I suspect won't be for a long time. But I can say most assuredly I'm scared at what's to come. I can almost gaurantee that as soon as it's found out who has done this, be it a terrorist group or country all together, we will be at war. God help us. Let's all pray for those who are lost, and for the families of those lost, and for all of us that something like this doesn't happen again.

I just heard that it may have been intended to hit Camp David in (I may be wrong) Newark, Delaware...did the plane hit anything or did it crash in an open area.....there is also another missing plane, a 767 US Air from Boston to LA, no word on it yet....

According to CNN, "United Airlines Flight 93 airliner headed from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco, crashed near Somerset, Pennsylvania". From initial reports, it doesn't sound like there were any survivors.

Also, the plane crash into the Pentagon appears to have been more severe than initially reported - one eyewitness says that the aircraft actually penetrated all the way to the inner ring of the building, and part of the building has collapsed. They also mentioned that over 20,000 people work in the Pentagon.

Don't know if this helps, but Compuserve news server is working very well. Lots of pictures and news, maybe too much, sadly.

CNN website is also working but kind of strangely.

Jim H.
I'm a compuserve customer so no connection etc.

Go to AOL.com and find the news link, it's being redirected to a lightning fast server.

Don't even try the Yahoo news server.

At this point, this is how is stands:

Separate planes crashed into each tower of the World Trade Centers, and both towers have collapsed - over 50,000 people work in those towers.

A car bomb went off in front of the State Department - no report on injuries, and I haven't heard anything since the initial report.

A plane crashed into the Pentagon, and the building is still burning and part of it has collapsed - no reports in injuries, but several of people have reported "massive casualties".

The FAA has ordered all planes out of the air, and no planes are being allowed to take off. Canada has done the same, the border between the U.S. and Mexico has been closed, and Canada is talking of closing the U.S./Canada border as well.

Bush is in the air in Air Force One, and most of Washington (including Congress members) have been evacuated to a safe location. He was in Florida at the time of the attack. Powell is also en route to Washington (he was overseas, I believe).

A plane with "at least 100 people on board" has crashed in Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Stock market has closed, as have many worldwide banks (some of which had their U.S. headquarters in the WT Center). They are talking of a potential worldwide economic impact of the attack...

Several people have said the injuries/fatalities may surpass those of Pearl Harbor.

Only one group has tried to claim responsibility, but the leaders of that group immediately denied any involvement. Some have (not surprisingly) guessed that Bin Laden (sp?) might be involved...whoever it was obviously was extremely well-organized.

They have just confirmed that the plane that hit the Pentagon DID in fact penetrate all the way to the innermost ring, and there is undoubtedly injuries/fatalities involving high-ranking military officials.

There may be one or two aircraft that are still unaccounted for.

That's all I can recall right now.
