I agree the perps and the people harboring them should pay with there lives. But as in NYC there are gonna be alot of innocent people murdered. And our great nation will then be the murderers.
Ofcourse, I understand it can not go unanswered. If so then the door would be open for the rest of the world to do the same to us again.
But if we turn the entire midEast into one giant glass parking lot and Bin Ladin is not there, then what? Suppose he goes some place like the Ussr or Red China. Then are we gonna try to blast them to smithers also? If we do that, the entire civilized western world is gonna have one bad day. And we all will be caught right in the middle of it. We all die. Who, then wins?
The annialation of all man because of one.
What saddens me the most is these people can only die one time.
Rather than once for each life they have taken.
We also have to remember that terrorist are willing to give there lives for the cause. If we kill them, they have done their
job.
This really isn't about Osama bin Laden. This is about making sure that terrorists who attack America and the countries who harbor them will not be tolerated. Period. It doesn't take nuclear weapons to do it and I don't think they are in the picture right now. Obviously bin Laden feels that he can get away with it because of the pathetic responses we've mounted in the past. Remember he planned this and started it when Clinton was President and there was a 50-50 shot that Algore would be in the White House today.
You keep raising questions...do you have some answers? Maybe some alternative solutions for a response to this attack? I'd love to hear what it is. As far as I'm concerned if these fanatics are so anxious to visit their supreme being I'm more than happy to send them on their way.
Awwww man, a Jehova's witness. In all honesty, and out of my curiousity, how many of you appreciate when they come to your door trying to sell their religion and beliefs when you just got home from work, are trying to sit down to dinner with your family and relax. I can't stand that!!! I mean, I don't have a problem with religion, or your beliefs, just don't try to get me to buy it at the most inconvenient times, and don't try to get me to buy it period? How many times do I have to tell the same guy who comes to my door "NO!"
You're absolutely right. I am sorry. I don't care what religion you are or preach, but I think right now we are all praying for the same thig, for those lost in New York and their families.
Who would agree to harbor Bin Laden knowing what the consequences for such action would be? I don't think he has anywhere else to go. If not for a Taliban controlled Afganistan, he would not even be welcome there. If all Afganistan supported Bin Laden, why this current mass exodus?
As far as the current resurgence of patriotism in the USA is concerned, most Americans tend to take their freedom for granted.
No American alive today has ever been anything but free! We live in nice houses in quiet neighborhoods, drive nice cars, make good money, and basically lack for nothing.
Today we realize that this way of life has been threatened. We have never witnessed thousands of lives snuffed out in the twinkling of an eye. Never seen mass destruction and panic of this magnitude in our own back yard.
Only now have most of us begun to realize that freedom is not free. It was not befor 9/11 and it is not now! It has been paid for with the lives of millions of our fellow Americans and sadly, there will be many more.
Personally, I am not the same person that I was prior to 9/11/2001. It took this tragedy to make me realize just how precious our way of life is. I pray it will make me a better person and so the next time someone cuts me off in traffic, or screws up my order at McDonalds, or whatever other trivial event that formerly caused me to loose my temper, I will remember just how fortunate I am.
We are not by any means perfect and we don't always even like each other, but when threatened by outsiders we will ban together like no other race of people on this planet. After all, that's what makes us AMERICANS.
One other thought to ponder. How many people have you seen or heard of fleeing th US to Mexico or Canada for fear of further attacks on our way of life? Answer: zero, nada, none! Heck, they aren't even fleeing Manhattan. There are people trying to get back to their homes and businesses before it is even safe to do so while Afgans pour into Pakistan and Iran by the thousands when they haven't even been attacked.
Americans do not run from a fight. We never have, and we never will! We are at our beat when our backs are to the wall. God Bless us all.
Evidently we're all wrong. According to Mssrs. Falwell and Robertson it wasn't bin Laden who was responsible for this tragedy, it's the U.S. Supreme Court, the ACLU and "internet ****":

I think a lot of you discussing this make it to complicated. You make it sound like it brain surgeory on Elbert Einstein. You think its all about why it happened. Well i dont give a...., It happened. Period, nothing else. What I myself wonder is what are we going to do about it. I dont care what we do as long as its done right, but Im not sure what right is. Hopefully the politicians, that do such a bs way of doing a job, can actually do something with this. Its scary knowing that my life is in there idiot hands. For one time in my life I scared to death about what might happen to the world after this. But Im sure when past wars broke out they felt the same. We as Americans must demand our government to be run more strictly to keep it sucessful in future years. Forget political parties or anything else, and vote for what you belive is right not what is popular. If I had my way there would be 10 Laws, no more no less, and there in the Bible as Comandments. And any of you who think im wrong, I want you to prove it to me, I dont think you can. Unfortunely, nowadays to become a leader all you need is money and the news media on your side which is totaly wrong. It should be for what you've done and what you stand for.
I dont know what we should do, but I know what we should not do. One, dont send ground forces in. Why, thats what they want, they'll slaughter us. You dont believe me, Ill give you and four of your friends fully automatic weapons and you can come and try to kill me on my 100 acres. Two, dont get carried away. This shouldnt break in two WW3 as long as we dont let it. And three, dont be prejudice against people. For god sake they have just as much right to be here as you do
Can I pass on the automatic weapons (since I now know your set-up) and settle on the 105 Howitzer instead?
All kidding aside, I don't think this administration is going to fall into the trap of previous ones. Previous countries have tried to go into Afgan and couldn't do much. Rugged terrain and no real sites to hit does not make for a good air campaign either. So if they take their time and don't tell anyone what they have planned, maybe even make some fake moves, they will achieve their goal. I am confident that justice will come through even if it takes a year or more.

Seriously though, I'm not so concerned that this will turn in to WWIII. I don't think it will get that bad. Not to mention, I also believe a madman would be the only one to use the nukes. We wouldn't use them first, they would be used on us. When Japan was bombed in 1945, I don't think they really understood at the time the awesome destructive power a nuke could have during and long after it would be used....besides, those were just little ones...but they accomplished their mission.
Another concern I have is that as time goes by, the world will become bored with this, and memories will start to fade. I fear that may happen here in the U.S. eventually also. I believe that ,yes, we should take our time and figure out a good plan in order to do justice, but not take so much time that our support begins to fade.
Keep those in mind who have lost their lives and those who have lost their loved ones. It will be that strength that we will need to draw upon in the future.
I have heard of propane weapons the US uses that are equally as devastating as Nukes minus the fallout. They will eliminate everything in a certain distance. Anyone else heard of thease wepons, or are they fictional?

I believe you're thinkng abut the FAE (Fuel Air Explosive) bombs which basically saturate the atmosphere with flammable gas then ignite it. They're roughly equivalent to a low yield tactical nuke.
