I will tell you why, because of the pussification of the nation by people like bill clinton and other pacifists... when they bombed the world trade center the first time, they should have carpet bombed the culprits. but what did they do ? nothing, bill clinton sat on his ##### and soaked up the tv coverage. If you do not retaliate they have nothing to fear. Bush will bomb and deystroy who ever did this or we are in for a world of hurt....

I believe this is the time to put away all of the Clinton/Bush, Democrat/Republican B.S. - This is America and we are all Americans and there is NOTHING more important than for us all to stand together as ONE.

I have to agree with Carlene's comment - this is a time when we, as a nation, need to stand together.

Recent updates now say that it wasn't a car bomb outside the State Department, but it still sounds like something went on there...the reports aren't very specific. Also, Air Force One is no longer the air and Bush is in a "secure location" (probably the installation they created during the Cold War, but that's just a guess).

God, this is absolutely disgusting. I work for a town DPW in Mass, near Boston, and we are fueling every vehicle and equiptment, preparing as if we were going to have a snow storm or have communications or power supplies cut off. This makes me sick, and if anyone else has seen it, that scene of the second plane slamming into the south tower makes me ill. It keeps getting shown on the different stations, and I can't help but think of all the people on board, wondering why the plane is so low and banking so fast as we watch them crash. God, I am absolutely stunned, worse than the challenger crash in 86. Let's all pray for everyone involved, their families, and for the US as a whole to pull through on this.

all-

undoubtedly this is a time of inifinate tragedy and sadness. An attack like this truly shows how vulnerable even the most powerful world forces can be when it comes to avoiding terrorist attacks. We all know that America is not one to go without retaliation, but what we have to realize is that this is a different kind of war. Our enemies are no longer the easily identified targets of the past. Therefore, the same kind of retaliation we have all become familiar with from the past will not work. Our enemies aren't nations; they're smaller but equally effective militant groups who act in secrecy and answer to no government. Until America realizes this and re-thinks its military strategies, we are as vulnerable as any other nation. Make no mistake, I for one would love to see the cowards who comitted these acts be punished, but you can't retaliate against an enemy you can't see.

This animalistic act of cowardess will effect the lives of every man, woman, and child living in these United States of America for the remainder of our lives. What little freedom we still enjoyed as of yesterday will be gone tomorrow. Our freedom to move freely about this great country will now be restricted and airline travel will be a gridlock of red tape and intense interrogations before being allowed to board any flight. Our second ammendment rights that honest citizens hold so dearly and fight daily to keep will forvermore be in jepordy. Internet traffic will be tightly monitored by "big Brother" as a breeding ground for terrorism and it's freedom of use could be forever changed.
What sickens me most is that these animals are living in our own back yard and prospering from the sweat of our brow. They could never have flown these aircraft from there countries of origin (Afganistan, Yemen, or wherever) so they hijack them in our own back yard and sacrifice our fellow Americans as human fodder for their own distorted purposes. They need to thank whatever God they worship they we aren't stringing them up in the streets of every city and town in America right now.
We welcome them to this great country with open arms. We feed them, employ them, and educate them in our schools and universities, and for what. So their ancestors can celebrate in the streets and glorify them for the death and destruction of innocent men, women and children.
I am an educated man, a family man, and a man of great faith. I am a son of the great state of South Carolina and a patriotic American. My children are on lock-down at our local schools as I write this. Scared and confused, held hostage in their own hometown. I for one, have had enough. It's time to circle the wagons friends. It's time to send some people packing. It's time to elect people who put God and County first. It's time to take in the welcome mat. America is my home. If you don't love it as I do, it's time to leave.

I agree with you on some points, but not on others. Yes, for months to come, the airports will be a high security area, and yes, it may be difficult to fly to some locations. But I disagree on the freedom deal. We as Americans have more freedom than just about any other country. The right to vote, the right to free speech, the right to fair trial. Go to many other countries and those rights are non-existant. There is no voting, and what voting there is is a farce, the winner of the elections are those who were going to win all along, those who have been in power, those dictators. In many middle eastern countries, women are not aloud to show their faces in public, curfews are in effect after dark, you can't walk through some areas without fear of stepping on a mine, as is the case throughout Egypt. Fair trial? In most countries you are guilty until proven innocent. Yes, the US has problems, yes, we make mistakes, but make no mistake that we are far better off than many other peoples of the world. And I think for right now, it is wrong to say or to point fingers at who did this. It's just as possible that it was some foreign terrorist group, just as it's possible it was home-grown hate, anti-government extremists. This may not be a perfect example, but look at Oklahoma City. At first, speculation was thrown around that it was the Iraquis, then the Iranians, then followers of Osama Bin Laden. But it turned to be as much as I hate to give the man the term, "one of our own". We may be hearing of people shooting riffles and cheering in the middle east at this terrible incident, but that does not make them the suspects. That makes them people who are anti-US, anti-superpower, and they are cheering because they are shown only one thing from day one: Americans are evil. And that does not make them bad, that makes them unfortunately uneducated, shown only what their dictators or leaders want to show them. True, it is more likely it was a group with money and knowledge and much planning to do this, and yes, Bin Laden may have made threats to the US three weeks ago, but for all anyone knows, it could have been a group from right here in our great nation, and we need to stop pointing fingers, stop falsely accusing, and give everyone the same right we are supposed to have, the right of innocence unless proven otherwise. Pointing the blame will only spark more hate and anger, and hate and anger is what tears us apart.

Quite honestly fellas...I'm looking to see the draft being enacted soon. They didn't abolish it so they can still use that as a resort if they so choose.

Yeah, let's just give everyone the benifit of the doubt and turn the other cheek until it happens again. Maybe next time it will be in your neighborhood and you will think differently. This liberal turn the other cheek attitude may just get us all killed. Tim McVeigh was one of our own but anyone who believes that he acted alone without support for foreign subversives is grossly mistaken. McVeigh was not intelligent enough to pull off what he was executed for. He was a scapegoat. I am sure he was involved but no way was he capable of masterminding such an operation.
I am convinced by your response to my original post that you have failed to grasp the seriousness or the global ramifications that will result from what has taken place today. How many people in Manhattan will die today that were not even affected by the terrorist acts. Think about the 60 year old man who may have a heart attack and die because he can't get the medical help he needs to otherwise survive. Think about the accident victim who will die because there is no blood supply available to save his life.
I may be overacting in your eyes but it is my opinion that it is way past time. I am sick and tired of sitting on my thumbs and watching innocent people die. You are entitled to your opinions but my opinion is that now is the time for action. If I violate someones civil rights, so be it.
Whoever is responsible for bringing this counrty to it's knees must pay and pay dearly. May God have NO mercy on their souls.

I served in the Marines for 10 years and feel this attack is a personal slam on the great country I served. Yes we have our problems as a nation but what nation doesn't. I have been to 17 countries and I can tell you that there is no better place than our great United States of America. I am tired of liberal points of view and how some people think our military is too big and spend too much money. Well now our insurance policy has come do and there in no money anywhere that can pay back our American losses. Tell all the families, that lost loved ones, that we spent too much money on defense last year. Not just military either. This attack on American soil is an outrage. I am a Christian man. I know that God is the only true judge. We are all awaiting our own judgement. However we can not stand for others foreign or domestic to continue these attacks on our way of life. These actions are not a right that they have. Liberty and Justice for all. Liberty is the right to do what every you want without infringing upon the liberty of others. It is your liberty to listen to your radio as loud as you like. However doing so may infringe on someone else's liberty to sit in peace and quiet. If your neighbor was listening to the radio loud and it was bothering you...would you turn the other cheek or go over and do something about it? We can not allow our enemies to take advantage of us any longer.

What I really want to know is how did these thugs hijack 4 airplanes in U.S. airports? I've traveled many hundreds of thousands of miles on commercial airliners all over this country and I just can't see how they were able to hijack every plane they wanted to so easily. If it hadn't been for the 1 that crashed in PA they would have gone 4 for 4. There were no "mayday" broadcasts, no warnings, the only semblance of a "leak" came from a passenger who was hiding with his cell phone in the restroom on the plane that crashed in PA. He called 911 and told the dispatcher that they'd been hijacked. Hmm...maybe I should take those warnings about cell phones messing up the guidance systems of the airplane more seriously.
