Is there any reason why I can't put a 4r100 behind the 7.3IDI?
The truck is a regular cab long bed 1990 F250 4x4 with the 7.3 and e4od. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
Ignore them. Just leave the sensors in place to plug the holes. You don't need to connect anything to them, the PCM won't know they are there.
You will need to use an E4OD solenoid body. There is a difference in one orifice in the pump body. The 4R100 one is about 0.250" and the E4OD is about 0.030". If you don't change this the converter lockups will be quite harsh. I don't have a diagram to show you where this is.
along with the original post (dated 2005 so it wont help him much now i doubt lol) you would need to change the shift lever mechanism.the solenoid pack as mentioned by Mark, using the 89-94 one.change the converter to use the 89-94 diesel,4 bolt one and use the older off/on front pump (preferably the high volume F5 '95-97)
i keep forgetting actually if instead of swapping in an f5 pump in this case,if you could simply use the 4r100 pump by simply converting it to on/off using this: http://www.transgo.com/products.php?...product_id=139
im not sure if i have forgotten it or if someone ever did verify that for me actually lmao!
(but reman f5 pumps are not expensive at any rate,on ebay.)
and you should be good...theroreticlly.4r100 to e40d for idi diesel.not sure if anyone's done it yet.if the E40D goes in log truck,i'll grab a used 4r100 and try it.
