I saw your e-mail, but I've been out of town. I have a 300 I6 pan and a 351W front sump pan. The pan you need is double hump pan for the 83-93 Mustang 302. You can get a chrome one from PAW for $90, part # CHR-7457; you would also need the rear sump oil pickup tube, part # CHR-7427, for $21.

When you dropped your 351 in was the oil pan you used dual sump, with the rear being larger? I've got a 351 in the machine shop, and it came with the dual sump pan. Also what kind of intake, carb, cam did you use? This is the first one I've built, and I'm hoping to get it right!

Yeah, I had to guess at a lot of stuff. Yes, the pan was a dual sump with the larger sump in the rear. The front sump is only there to allow clearance for the oil pump. I used the Edelbrock Performer intake with an Edlelbrock 600cfm carb with electric choke. It works great!! The cam is stock (I bought a long block with the cam already in) which works OK (wish I had a bigger Edelbrock cam, though) and the heads are the old 2 bbl heads. Both the cam and the heads are choke points for the engine breathing properly, especially over 4500 rpm. If I had the heads and cam, I would be pushing 300 horses (now guessing my hp at about 240) and would easily be able to wrap the engine into the 5500-6000 range. If you have the opportunity, at least port and polish the heads to match the intake and gaskets. Also, put on some Doug Thorley tri-y headers and run true duals all the way back. I did and the sound is awesome. I may not have the real power, but I certainly scare a few folks with the sound!!!

All the oil should drain out the rear sump. The front hump is only there to clear the oil pump. And yes, I believe that is the pan you need for the '81 F150 2wd. You will only have a finger's width clearance between the front hump and the cross member, so you will never be able to get the front drain plug out.
