I want to take the rear sliding glass window out of my 83 F-100 Pickup to repaint the top. How do I get it out without damaging it. Thanks a bunch.
Dave
Cool, I was just about to ask the same question. Except my purpose is to replace my rear window due to an Ah Sh%t! manuever. - I thought my atv was in reverse and shattered my rear glass today. How do you remove the rear window and re-install it? When I buy another replacement slider and install it can I use the same window gasket or do I need to order a new one of those also?
from inside the cab, lift up on the bottom of the seal and work it around pushing on the bottom of the window. Have some one in the bed to catch it. it'll take some persuasion but it'll come right out. try not to use a screwdriver if the seals not dry rotted or cracked you won't need a new one. When you put it back in put a rope in the space in the seal where it fits into the cab, this will keep it open work the window in starting from the top and slowly pull the rope out as you work around
try not

I just did the exact same thing.. repainting the top... I found that using a cotter pin pulling tool (looks kinda like an awl with a little curlicue bend toward the tip) helped remove the gasket immensely.. and since it doesnt habe any edges or corners a la screwdrivers, I didnt have to worry about scratching or damaging anything
