more than likely if its a fe series it will have 352 cast on to the front of the engine block here are the casting numbers for the 428. If its non of these post your casting numbers and i'll be glad to find out what it is
C8ME can also be found on 330 and 391 FT blocks. The CobraJet blocks had a sand cast scrathed A or C on the back face of the block.
BigWindow, the problem with an FE is most of them are alike from the outside, you really need to find what the stroke and bore of the motor are to zero in on displacement. Take a look at my pictures, it's nearly impossible to tell the old 352 from the +.060 over 390 I now run, except one is cleaner
It was the std 428 block that has the "A" on the rear of the block. The CJ and SCJ the "C" on the rear of the block. Mike G is right on track. It's really difficult to ID the engine together and in a truck/car without removing some parts. The casting numbers are generic making them PMU.
Kwanderi, The casting numbers are on the right (pass) side of the block.
i went out to my garage to check on the engine with the c8me and after pulling theflexplate i found a very crude "c" so does that make it a 428 cj it also has c8ae-h heads it is all original but is in poor shape it was run with low oil and spun some rod bearings
