FE OIL PAN
Seems like I've read in the past that you can not. Mine now has a 460 in it so I can't look. Since Ford's Dizzys are in the front so is the oil pump in the pan. So I think the crossmember and the oil pump together won't allow you to remove it without some lift.
Thanks HIO.
I thought this is the bump forum? Sorry, What a slick? A dent side?
Slicks are the early 60's body style before us. Slick Sixty's. Dents are the 70's body style after us. Our horizontal body line down the sides "Bumps" out. Convex. Dent's horizontal body line "Dents" in. Concave.

Yup
Whoops, I meant slick and dent...
The frame/FE engine relationship is the same '65-'76, hence the issue falls into the three forums.
I have separated the pan from the block without removing the pump and pickup. This allows the pan to be moved around enough to allow access to the main cap bolts and gives enough room to do the rear seal, which is what I was in there for.
Why do you want to remove the pan?

Pretty much the same thing. I bought a complete gasket set and if you saw my undercarriage before I dug into this you definitely know.
Can you actually remove the pan totally?
BTW, you had it right. I'm the one with my head where it don't belong.
4wd bumps & dents no cross member under center of the pan. So it will drop straight down.
And for the 2wd, I've seen on this forum where guys used 4x4" wooden blocks between the motor mounts & frame mounts to support the engine up to remove the pan.

'Fridges = '57-'60 Ford trucks.
Slicks = '61-'66 trucks.
Bumpsides = '67-'72 trucks.
Dentsides = '73-'79 trucks.
Bullnose = '80-'86 trucks.
....I don't know what, if anything, the nicknames are for the Ford trucks prior to '57 or beyond '86.
