When I shut my truck off tonight the fuel pump in the rear tank kept running. I switched to the front tank and that one would run also. The only way I could get them to stop was to disconnect the battery. I hooked back up and it would still run. Now sitting with battery unhooked until this can be solved. Is it safe to drive when I hook battery back up and try to get to work?
Sounds like the fuel pump relays are stuck open and allowiing the pumps to continue to run . What model yr is your truck ? Engine ? Im sure one of us can tell you where the relay is located depending on the model yr . Most all of the later model fuel pump relays are located in the same housing as the EEC IV , ABS ...left side fender well area , they are all marked , black plastic housing . I got mine to shut off by tapping it until I got a new one .

This is pretty scary, mine did the same exact thing on Saturday. Same year truck. Y2K related? I did the same thing, unhooked the battery for awhile. I hooked it back up later and it was fine. Guess I'll head down and pick up a fuel pump relay just in case.
