They say if the only tires in your yard with air in 'em are the ones on your house, you're a redneck. Welp, the movin' company took 'em with 'em when they left.

For the love of God, can you people stop bringing out the retarded Foxworthy jokes. "Supposedly" he originally meant them in good humor (even though he turned on rednecks as soon as he got popular), but they have become the main arsenal for morons to use against us. Those jokes seem to be completely defeating the purpose of the original post.
Also, just a comment, the joke about towin a boat without a trailer wasn't a redneck joke, it was about how drunk his dad was.

By no means do i beleive that slavery is the answer or should be reinstated. but the morale and atmosphere of the south should come back along with the ideas the south believes, excluding slavery. now im gonna be truthful i hate ALOT of people out there, they come from all backgrounds, race, religion, creed, sex, and whatever other BS liberals can come up with. i really hate most people cause im just see things differently, but i hate our govt right now, George W. Bush is the best thing that could of happened.

I'm not meaning to **** anyone off but this is meant as a joke
If memory and history are correct I am not sure which flag you are all talking about the stars and bars don't represent anything cuz as history says the last flag flown in the south was white

LAST EDITED ON 27-Jul-01 AT 03:59 PM (EST)[p]Why is it that every time someone talks about their southern pride, there is always another person assuming that southern pride means re-instating slavery, or even promoting racism or separatism? Geesh. Talk about the dubing down of America. The Civil War (i.e. the War for Southern Independence) was not about slavery. It was about state's rights. When this country was formed, it was a republic of independent states united for a common good and defense. Somewhere along the way the idea spawned that those states which voluntarily joined the Union were yielding their rights as self-governing bodies. When some of those states wanted to voluntarily secede from the union which they had voluntarily joined, the mighty union said "nope."

The slavery issue was a device used to gain sympathy. As always, the victor writes the hisory. Lincoln's Emancipation Proclomation didn't free a single slave. It never applied to northern states (YES- there were still slaves in the north) and the southern states didn't recognize him as their President, so it was of no effect whatsoever.

Southern pride is the equivalent of what people in other parts of the country call "the puritan work ethic," Yankee ingenuity," "The Frontier Spirit," or whatever it may be. Don't demonize us just because our source of pride is in the fact that our fathers once faught to return this great nation to her former glory. Our pride has nothing to do with racism. Anyone thinking otherwise might be interested in learning about the Black Americans who aligned themselves with the south, fought in Her army, and even recieved the Medal of Honor for their service. The same might find these quotes from Lincoln to be quite in contrast with what their history books taught them about the cause of the north:
"I am not in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office...." 9/15/1858 campaign speech "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery...." 3/4/1861 First Inaugural Address "I am a little uneasy about the abolishment of slavery in this District [of Columbia]...." 3/24/1862 letter to Horace Greeley "If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it...." 8/22/1862 letter to Horace Greeley, New York Tribune editor. But then, learning such facts would negate the effect of America's dumbing-down.

Anyway, who says you have to be from the south to be a Redneck? God Bless America!

The Proud Preaching Redneck, and Son of the Confederacy,
Nate

Nate, I believe that that was a cold chill that just ran up my spine! That, Sir, was very well said. I only wish that I were as well versed in the history of the South. This racism issue does tend to grate on my nerves. I guess it just goes to show exactly how uninformed the majority of the "anti-Redneck" crowd really are. Keep em flyin and God Bless!

AZ4, you are correct, there were over 100 flags flown throughout the south during the war. most common are blue bonnie, the original secession flag and the second naval jack |x| thats the one that everyone sees. but it was actually for their navy, the infantry usually carried flags from their own state which all varied with a majority of them incorporating the stars and bars into them. and my southern pride, comes from not only knowing i work harder than most people but that my ancestors rose up and sacraficed their lives in something they believe in. you do not see that any more in america, and i think its a shame. they will do a 20/20 special on something and the media will whine about stuff but no one will stand up for anything. i am the first to say something and stand up for what i believe in, principles come before anything else. my southern pride does not come from knowing that my ancestors imprisoned another race, no, but it does come from the feeling that they did not want a huge government running them. thats my southern pride.

I'm glad to see someone finally reinstated what I've been trying to tell my history teachers for years. Doesn't it make sense to anyone that if you don't like a race your not gonna fight for them? The southerners didn't like black people at the time, hence they wouldn't fight to keep them around, oh my gosh the war must have actually been faught for another reason. Here is my theory, if you break it down, every war in history somehow can be related back to money. Either someone was gonna make it or lose it if they fought. I just don't believe many people are willing to die for beliefs. Money..........well we all know people will do some bad things for money.

I'm a southerner (Florida) who just moved to connecticut this past year. I don't like it up here that much, no offense to anyone who lives here, but i just can't find people i relate to. I like to fish, bowl, drive, go muddin, metal detecting, and watch nascar. I just haven't found anyone my age that enjoys that. I'm only 16, and i drive a ford 4x4. Everyone else my age drives hondas and doesnt listen to country and classic rock like myself. I was about the only kid my age at the Skynrd concert, and i was the only kid at 38 special and Charlie Daniels lol. I'm sorry but new music sucks. It's no longer music, it's turned into just lyrics with no feeling.

LONG LIVE SKYNRD and may god let me please move back to Florida before i graduate!!!!!
