I've got an 81 351m with egr.... i recently rebuilt the carb and since then, the engine doesn't run properly with the egr connected (bogs down just past idle).
If i disconnect the egr vac. ,it runs fine. I haven't changed the routing of any vac lines... i know i could just get rid of the whole egr system, but i would like to have it working again regardless...
thanks, Dave
Does it have an EGR "plate" under the carb?
My '74 Bronco with a 302 had the same problem. The plate under the carb was full of carbon, all the ports were plugged up. cleaned out the plate and she was "good to go"

the egr may be hanging up, try taking it off and soak it in WD 40 or something similar. by this I mean the pintle side that is inside the valve that passes the gasses.Do not spray it into the diaphragm or soak it, just the valve end. A friend of mine couldn't get his 80 F150 to idle, and that was the cause, it was stuck well open, turned out to be just carboned up.
Sorry to hyjack this thread but on my 86 EFI 302 where is the EGR valve located? I want to try to soak it in B-12 so see it it clears up my rough idel/surging. I have already cleaned the IAC vaave so it made a slight diffrence.

Its goofy lookin round thing that comes off your intake, right beneath your Carb... 302 i think it stick out the back (correct me on this one) but def. on the intake manifold.
