1981 429 Lima engine vac diagram
'81 Ford L800, 429ci 5speed, no CA emmisions, no AC.
The valve cover shows a vac diagram, carb settings etc. however the diagram says its for a 370 or "engine family" 6.1L. The air cleaner indicates a 429, as does the VIN. Why is this? Are the settings and vac diagram the same as a 370? THe sticker on the valve cover says 429-4V Lima Engine... does the 4V stand for 4bbl?
A couple vac hoses have been capped by previous owner. Trying to restore. There is a elec solenoid valve bolted to the passenger side valve cover. THe electrical connector was busted and not hooked up. What triggers this sol valve and what is its purpose?
The egr valve was not hooked up. According to the diagram, the valve should have a vac hose going to "LCV". Is this a EGR load control device? There is a golf ball size device flopping around on the intake that has several vac lines, one has been plugged. Wondering if that should be hooked up to the egr valve. All other vac lines, check valves and double reservor are in place and looking good.
The carb runs good under load, but fine tuning the idle. She doesn't want to idle smoothly. I thought I would restore the vac system and then go from there.

Thanks!
