egr question

If I can unplug the vac line to my egr to make my bronco run better can someone tell me why i need to do the egr plate with the hole drilled in it.

I don't know about the hole,but if you put a tin plate in,it eliminates the EGR totally and any future problems,like the valve leaking exhaust into your intake and what ever.Just be sure to block that vac line so you don't get a leak there.It may work a long time like you have it,but with it blocked at the port it can't create more problems.Prior to computers,we used to just totally block them with tin,maybe the hole has something to do with allowing something in the system to work,I'm not sure about that,but the way you have it is considered a temperary fix.

I failed to mention its a 90 model bronco, anybody else care to reply to my question?
