Thanks for your post. It would be intersting to see if the insurance question is a state to state variation of the definition of a commercial vehicle or simply a misunderstanding by select agents. My agent in North Carolina, stated there was no rating difference between the 250 and the 350. I have read one post by someone who said their agent claimed the 350 to be commercial, so it may indeed be a state to state thing. Or perhaps it's just one of the rumors that get passed around, like the rear axles of the 250 and the 350 being the same and the rear springs being different.
Lots of great advice, but I do not think that if you want a V-10, you should get a diesel. To me that is like saying if you want a rabbit, get a turtle. Tell me more about cheaper license tabs for 350's. Are you saying since it gets into the commercial range, MN gives a break? If true, does anyone know if MICH does the same? Okay. what does the "P" in PSD stand for? thnx again all of ya'll!
Here`s my .02 cents worth. I wanted the biggest, baddest truck you could buy without going into a vehical made just for towing. The PSD was my pick after much research.
This was my first new truck and I dont tow much but the F-350 PSD seems to work just fine for short or long trips.
In MN. the license tabs are much cheaper on F-350.
No matter what Superduty you get you should like it.
My thinking has always been-get one size bigger than you think you need(except women), if you think you can get by with a V-10 then buy a diesel!
I think that's the best advice, getting what you like. I also agree with the get one size bigger than you currently need concept and concer with your exclusion criteria. Women should be sized differently than Superduties. With women I try to get one that will not be one size bigger after the break-in period.
My redheaded woman has had five redheaded kids with this ole redhead and they are all doing quite well (3 still in school and 2 in the military) and now Momma has become a SuperDuty and I love her more than ever. She actually looks better to me every day. Both of us have GROWN accustomed to each other (and grown...and grown...). Many around the middle. It happens to the best of us! They do make bigger clothes.

Danko,
Just playing around. In reality I have three super kids and a superduty wife. That's why I got the diesel, longevity and pulling it's own load. BTW, What color is your truck?
I am getting DSG which should look good with the chrome bmprs and new chrome grille. Also, I found a place that does the flames like my 2002 F150 HarleyDavidson has but in choice of colors and they have metaflake silver, so it will be dark shadow grey with silver flames, polished alum wheels and out the door for $23K !!!!!!! with 362 h.p. and 6 forward gears. It is a reg cab and I will get back window limo tinted. I am a bit concerned about the bodyside moldings for $60. I have seen an upscale?/Lariat with a chrome stripe in middle of flat black and it looked good and then I have seen some that are just dark..... Should be okay, but after putting chrome GMC moldings on my two Harleys, I am conscious of how nice moldings can look. Dodge just copied the GMC moldings with chrome versions. I did not get the optional mirrors and cannot find one with the standard ones. What do they look like? Simple flags?
Danko, do you have any pics of your trucks with the chrome off of the GMC's on it you can post. I have thought about doing this also and wondered what it would look like. Also what did it cost you to do this ? Thanks
No pix but just check out the GMC's. I had them installed after paying $240 for 4 pcs. (each truck) and about 3" had to be cut from the front doors. GMC used to use 4 pcs per side, one for each dr, one for the little pc. of cab and then one onto the bed but they simplified it to two pcs. a couple years ago and it looks much cleaner now. So, they start with a point at the front of the front doors and end with a point at the end of the rear doors. My HarleyDavidson F150's have the useless chrome pipes below the sills and these chrome mldgs just look about perfect running parallel with those. Kind of expensive but I got a deal on the trucks and these moldings look right!
GM is American, too! I support Ford AND GM. I hired into Chrysler August, 1964. The (Edited by Admin) us out and now I am laid-off. Over 40 years means nothing if you are not in the union. Amazing how surprised people are to see me driving GM and Ford products now. I remind them I have ALWAYS been an American!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember who butters your bread.

Reason: Remove nazi *******s bought
Problem is both GM & FORD use parts manufactured in other countries where labor is cheap, but thats a whole nother problem that I dont want to get into.
And what is your point? First off, the chrome GMC moldings are GORGEOUS!!!!! Secondly, where are the bodyside moldings made? Please do not criticize my choice unless you know enough about that choice to do so. I am very happy with what I have done and enjoy my F150's made in Kansas City by Americans for an American company out of almost totally American parts. If some fasteners and wire harnesses from elsewhere bother you, that is not an issue for me. I get as much truly American content as possible. I also know about "American" content. Honda of America buys front-drive halfshafts parts from Japan for such a high price they show no profit here and pay no taxes to our country. They assemble those parts in Canada and they are held together with some clips made in England and these assemblies are called "American content" because they were assembled in Canada even though the machining and other labor intensive operations are done in Japan and assembly is in Canada.
