Wireless headphones

I have an '03 X limited with stock stereo/DVD. Has anyone figured a practical way to add wireless headphones. My kids are just too young to deal with the wires.

Lightbulb Wireless Headphones

Your Ex should've come with two sets (pairs) of wireless headphones. If you bought it used, try to contact the original owner if possible, if you bought it new ask your dealer where your wireless headphones went. I have the 2001 Ex Limited and received two sets of headphones with mine (although I have the VCR from the factory and added a DVD player later). If all else fails, check your owners manual, there should be a separate manual just for the rear seat entertainment system. If the original specs call for 900 mhz wireless headphones, any aftermarket set should do (that match the frequency being used in your Ex's sound system). Check these things out and let us know, it's info alot of us can use. Good luck.

Are you kidding me? I asked the dealer about headphones when I bought the truck. It took almost a month to get them delivered...but then could not get them to work. I took them back to the dealer, where I was told that my truck must not have that feature installed. They then gave me some cheepo wired units, one of which didn't even work. I didn't care at that point, since my kids are just now 5, 7, & 9. Wires, are just too much for them to deal with, especially by the time they set up the game cube or PS2. Are you sure they all have that feature? Before, I go back to raise hell, I sure would like to know for sure.

If your dvd unit has two tinted windows with (if I remember correct) two red LEDs inside, the DVD unit should support wireless headphones. The two tinited windows should be on the center portion of the unit on either side of the flip down screen, right next to the ceiling, when you're looking at it from the second row seats. Hope this helps

I have a '03 Ex Limited w/ the DVD option as well, but mine did NOT come with wirless headphones, just with the standard "wired" ones.

I thought about it as well and you may be able to plug in a little wireless sender in the center console headphone output, which then results in wireless headphones... similar to the ones you can use on the airplanes.

Just my input...

Exclamation Wireless Headphones

If your truck came with the optional rear seat entertainment system, that is to say, that your original window sticker states that the equipment was installed at the factory, I firmly believe that you should've received two pairs of wireless headphones. My 2001 Ex Limited did. In the overhead console, toward the rear, only visible to the 2nd & 3rd row passengers, is a little red plexiglass window where the sending unit is located. If my 2001 came with this, all you people with later versions should have it also, I would think. Especially those who have the factory installed DVD system, mine is the vcr version. I don't have the manual handy, but I believe that their operation is shown. I'm not some kind of authority or anything, but I never saw anything saying that the headphones (wireless) had to be purchased separately or that they were optional or an add-on. Just my two cents.

Another option I was going to consider was a wireless fm modulator. I have seen them at walmart (Belkin is the brand I think). My kids have FM radios, MP3 players with FM or even CD players with FM. I think one model of the modulator I found you could pick 4 different freqencies to broadcast. I believe they were about $20. I put in an aftermarket unit in my X and did have the headphones. My kids don't like them. They complain they hurt their ears. So, what I do at the moment is this. The auxilary radio controls in the center console (My X is a 2000 limited) has two head phone jacks. I bought two long extensions and at the end of each I use a double headphone jack so both kids in the middle can use their own headphones. The extensions are long enough I run both under the floor mats and under the seats and bring them up through the back of the seat so they are in the middle. By doing this they can listen to the movie and we can listen to anything but the radio. It has work out pretty good so far. I keep the wireless ones just in case the kids happen to bring someone to fill the other two spots.
