The Redneck, anyone in town with a CB knows me. Kinda sucks that they don't get much use 'round here though, 4 watts don't allow fo much range. Then again, I'm not so sure about uniden radios or the sinclabs antennas either. Anyone have any experience with the 9ft. whips?
Remember the childrens story about the King that had the golden thumb? Everything he touched turned to gold. My handle: Brown thumb. Need an explanation?
Only ever used a 96in. fiberglass with a 6in. spring=102in.
A 9 footer would be fine if your gonna talk down in 26 mhz. 102in. falls right in around 27.405
My buddy gave me a CB to put in my truck. But my wife will not let me because her x husbane cheated on her with some gal he met talking on a CB. But if i ever get one in my truck my handle will be PINTO, after my frist car. People still call me pinto, and i sold the car 3 years ago.
I got into CB's about the mid 70's. Telephone line didn't come to the area till about 1980, so all the neighbors, (some 15 miles apart), used the CB. When the phones came in we would call each other up, but still use our handles. I worked for an old guy after school that had a CB shop, doing installs in log trucks. He said I should call myself the mountain boy, so I did. I had an old Browning SST mobile, pushing 600 watts in the truck, (lots of batteries..). At home we had a Browning base with a 2KW linear and I stuck the antenna 120' up a doug fir. Been in some form of RF ever since.
I'm a little grey in the beard to be mountain boy any more and for some reason mountain old man doesn't have the same ring to it...
