I got a traffic ticket......and then lost it. Will they send me any kind of reminder?
Would I have to talk to anyone other than clerk of court to get it straightened out? It's been well over the 30 day period I had to pay, would my license be suspended already?
Agree with above. In most places, it's your responsibility to follow up, whether they remind you or not.
Also: Keep copies of all documentation, especially papers showing you did whatever needed to be done!!
Twice I have run my DMV printout only to find warrants for non payment or failure to appear, on tickets I had cleared by payment or traffic school. Each time I had to take a half day off and stand in line at the courthouse in the offending county and show documentation to get it cleared up.
Last time it happened was 15 years ago...I find it's simply easier just not to get tickets anymore.
I'd call the clerk and see, they should send you another out no problem. When i got mine, i taped it to the wall so I wouldn't lose it, of course, I live in a dorm where I don't really care what is on my wall, wasn't too proud of having that up there, but hey, i remembered. I know that after my ticket, there was one copy sent to my house along with the one that I had in my hand. that copy showed up about a week after the incident though
They won't come to your home for you. If you get stopped again for anything it will come up on their computer and then you'll get arrested and the truck impounded. In most places now, you won't be allowed to renew your licence or reg. untill it's cleared up.
There was a time or two before I have had a ticket on there from years ago, I didnt get arrested, I didnt even get reminded, all they did was sent it to a collection agency, and I had to pay them before it affected my credit, thats all.
