I need to remove my pitman arm to put a drop pitman on there.. anybody have any ideas to help me get it off? I've tried using a fork prybar and all sorts of stuff, and it feels like it's going to break the steering box and I really really don't want that. Any ideas?
Just a word of caution. I bought one from AutoZone and it broke when I attempted to remove mine. I then went and bought one at a tool store that was made in the U.S. and it worked. More expensive but worth it.
Pitman arms can be difficult to remove, I tightend up on the tool a little at a time while tapping the arm with a hammer and it finally broke free. Go easy with the hammer as you may damage the box. You could try heating the arm while tightening the tool but I wouldn't as the metal could be weakened or the box seals damaged by too much heat.

I just re-read your thread and noticed your installing a dropped pitman arm. Make sure when your done that it is tight on the tapered shaft as I have seen arms that require additional washers to tighten properly. This is due to the arm being thinner than the stock one. The nut reaches it's torque setting before the arm slides far enough up the tapered pitman shaft and you end up with play in the steering.
