Well after I put my headers on my egr valve tube wouldn't reach the header. My header has a different degree angle that the egr tube connects at. So after searching for a new one for a while I couldn't find any. Went to my local car quest and bought a plug and blocked it off. Will this stop me from passing DEQ? My EGR is still connected, but not just circulating. I may end up just taking it into a ford dealership if it does, and having them replacing the EGR valve with one off a 94(i think this year and above had a different angled EGR).
Most likely if the technician is checking things, you will not pass DEQ without a functional EGR. You didn't tell us much about your truck, but many of the computers will set a code and tell the technician that the EGR i snot working.
You might need to work with an exhaust shop to get a tube that fits, or maybe your idea will work.
Either way, most smog checks will probably notice a non working EGR, especially if you have OBD II and maybe even OBD I.
