Attaching EGR valve to headers

Hey guys just ordered a set of long tube headers my manifolds where leaking just thought if had to fix them might as well replace them. but my question is has any one hooked up there egr valve to headers or am i better off getting rid of it. I do have to pass emissions but it is just a sniffer check and visually inspection to make sure everything is there. I can always make it appear to be connected. Thanks Matt

It's no problem for an exhaust shop (or yourself) to weld you the connection onto your headers. Line up the header on the passenger side and mark where the inlet tube should start.

While you're at it, have the o2 sensor bung welded in as well. You won't lose any performance keeping your EGR function as is with long tube headers.

FYI... my longtubes did not have provisions for the EGR or o2 sensor either. I reused the egr tube from the old y pipe and had an o2 bung installed on the passenger side header. You will also need a new Y pipe with long tube headers. Speak to an exhaust shop prior to install. They should fab you up one for relatively cheap. I paid $160 out the door for new Y pipe, o2 bung and EGR inlet insertion, and cat and muffler install.

Hope this helps,
Mike

I passed NJ inspection with no EGR or air pump, so if its not worth it dont spend thhe extra money to get the egr put into the manifold. I welded the O2 bung into the custom true dual y pipe I made. Ill take some pics tomorrow and show.

I used the female fitting cut from another EGR tube and welded it to one of the header tubes. I used a 5.0 EGR tube only because I didn't have a 5.8 tube.. still works fine. Check out the pics in the link.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motorst...7602815866941/
