Give me some good news folks. On my 95 F-150 with 302, is there 1, or 2 o2 sensors? Also, how much do these cost in the States. I just priced one from Ford, and it is $135 bucks, plus tax, so about $155. Is this a dealer only item? Or could(should) I save a few bucks by going to an aftermarket source.
My gas for a week used to cost 35 to 40, now it is about $100, 110. Same amount of driving, same price for gas. I have black soot at the end of the tailpipe, so I suspect a lean condition, and it all points at the o2. (Without getting it tested) I have tried fuel injector cleaner, and it didn't help.
Well, my 88 302 has one O2 sensor, but it is the three-wire kind and it is expensive. I would get a bosch aftermarket one, the dealer one isn't that special.
You might have two sensors, but if you do, hopefully they are the one-wire kind that are really cheap. You will just have to crawl under the truck and look on the exhaust pipe between the first cat and the exhaust manifolds.
I think the 95 would only have the one sensor before the first cat. I'd check in between the two cats as well, just to be sure. My friends 96 f-150 had one between the cats in addition to one in each exhaust manifold. I think they only started doing that in 96.

In fact, he doesn't stock them because they're so expensive. They're only $40 or so at the local parts house and exactly the same as the Ford.
I found a place in the states out of an add in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords called Interactive Systems and Technologies (www.mass-air.com). Anyway, they want $50 for the o2, and by the time I get it up here to Canada, it will still be cheaper. They also have a computer tune up kit for 5.0 and 5.8 engines, for 339. It comes with (can't remember all parts) pair 02 sensors, MAP, TIB, TAB, cap and rotor, TFI, etc, etc. This kit is for a mustang, but he told me that he can sell it with 1 o2 sensor, and whatever else needs to be changed, for less than 339 for my truck. I will probably order that, and change it all at once.
They also have a mass-air conversion kit for a 95, 302 5 speed, for $599. I will be getting this sometime too. I asked the local ford dealer if he could get one, but 10 year old at the parts counter had no idea what I meant.
