Rad Support mount

My engine is also offset (2 inches) to the right but as I am not using the original radiator, the stock shroud is not an issue. I am going to attempt running without a shroud since I am using a large diameter clutch fan which covers the entire radiator. I suppose I can fabricate a shrould later if it becomes necessary.
Bobby,
I'll try to get a picture of the air deflector as I modified it and put it in my gallery, but it may be awhile. I don't have a digital camera and have only used up about half of the roll of 24. I'll let you know when I get around to developing them. Unfortunately, I did not take a before picture.

I had to offset my engine a little also, but only about an inch. I had all the exhaust and everything on that big Caddy engine when I sat it in place and fabbed my mounts. Good fit against the steering and everything. Then I decided to go with the Toyota power box, dang, the box would have been a bit too close to the exhaust. So I moved the box up to in front of the crossmemeber instead. Then I found a great deal on some chrome headers for the Caddy engine, but dang, they interfere with my steering shaft assy so I've decided to stick with the original exhaust manifolds. It's either that or raise the engine 2"......nope. I'm done fabricating--I want to drive!
Vern--thanks, no big rush on the pics. I understand the way things are. If I didn't have a digital cam for work I wouln't have one either.
Bobby;
Thanks for the feedback, I noticed I will have to shave 1/4" from my driver side motor mount bracket, to clear steering knuckle. My headers will be close but I hope steering column clears by 1/2" or better.

I have just done this install in the last couple of days, works REAL neatly
I have left my rad support panel in the V8 location
I used a 1976 F100 5 core radiator, mounted infront of the radiator support
The side strap of the radiators has two flanges down each side (kind of a U shape). I trimmed the longer one down to the same length as the shorter one, removed about 1/2", simple straight cut with a angle grinder
I folded up two channels 4" wide 3/4" deep and the height of the innerguards which bolt too the 6 cylinder holes in the innerfenders.
The radiator sits into these channels, and is held in position by four small bolts.
Standard F100 radiator hoses line up perfectly with my 351C, should be the same for windsor hoses.
All VERY neat and ALL FORD
I will post photos later
Hope this helps someone

I too looked at a 1979 F100 rad; would have gone with it at a third of the cost but I liked the "vintage" look I'll get with the stock rad re-cored.
Awesome progress on the truck! I have been at mine since Oct 04, hope to have cab repaired and ready to mount on frame 1-2 months. Once gas tank is mounted, have steering and plumbing left on frame.

Engine, box and diff were painted and went in last weekend.
Bright red motor, with polished repro Cal Custom rockers and a big tunnel ram.
Smoothed inner guards and firewall (NO holes, everything hidden) which will be painted white and pinstripped........looks way cool already
I need to get someone to finish the beating on the back panel of the cab and paint it (Patina, so any old green with a flattening agent). Hopefully I can get my beater over tommorrow
I need to make the tray floor, then mount the propane tank, throttle cable, shifter, wirring etc etc. And I still need a grill
I''ll be running just in time for winter and the end of rod run season

From your description of the 76 F-100 radiator with the U-shaped flanges, it sounds a lot like the Mopar radiator I am using. My hope is to install my radiator with as few alterations as possible so that if I were ever to need a new radiator on the road, I could just install one straight out of the box without any mods. I don't know if I can do that or not, but will try. I believe I can fabricate some brackets that will line up the original Ford mounting holes in the core support to the mounting holes on the Mopar radiator. This type of installation may not look as pretty as one where the brackets are trimmed, but I am going for functionality over looks.

I'm hoping to be on the road in a couple of months also. I cut and fitted some frame boxing plates last night. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have the frame welded up and all the holes in the firewall repaired and be ready to drop the engine back in....hopefully
