Scangauge Question - Headliner Mount?
I have the instrumentation-challenged Work Truck option, 2005 XL. I would like to add a Scangauge, since it has every engine measurement I think I'll need. I'd like to mount it in the headliner, in the bump between the visors. A mount on the top of the dash will leave it in a pretty hot area in the summer, and they advise against that.
I'm thinking that the front mount for the Screw/Scab rail mounts might be a good starting point - buy and fit that, then Dremel it out to make room for the Scangauge. The moon roof control bezel might also work, but it looks a bit small.
I've also considered fabricating a mount in place of the driver's side visor, as I never use that, but my wife does on the infrequent times when she drives the truck.
So...has anyone done anything like this before in an 04-05? Are there any aftermarket pieces which also might work? Or other Ford parts from other years I could consider? I'm 6'4", and I use *all* the headroom, so I'm hoping for a mount which doesn't drop low enough to affect my vision out.
The other alternative I've considered is the coin slot, fabricating a mount from that as some others have done for a cell phone. Ideally that will house a transmission temperature gauge, one of the few things not included in the Scangauge output. Has any company made a 2-gauge pillar pod for 04-05s which doesn't remove the handle?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a reg cab so no roof rail system. I thought about adding one, but haven't found one yet, they don't make one for the reg cab, so I would have to get one cheap enough to be worth trying to make it fit. Sounds like a good place for the Scangauge though.
You would have to splice a few wires, as the stock wire isn't that long. Would be worth it, I think.
I've considered putting the Scangauge into a more cosmetic plastic box, and mouting it in the center rubber tray. If I found the right box I would try it, anyway.
The folks at Scangauge don't respond to questions about tapping the output from the Scangauge, and channeling it to a larger LCD, like the one on my backup camera/DVD indash.
Hope someone has a better idea than I have had so far. I do love the Scangauge, and don't want to drive without it. Love the MPG, and the Lod readings.
Chris
