componenet speakers installation all around!

i am just about to put my entire stereo system in my 06 KR but i am still trying to contemplate everything. the only thing that is giving alot of rethinking is the rear componenet speakers installation. you definetly got to put componenets in the front because ford made us a place to put a separate tweeter so i am definetly going to use it. i will be installation POLK audio DB components all around (5.25's). i love componenet speakers so i'd like to keep all components all around but there is a problem trying to put them in the back!

does anybody have a good idea where to put the separate tweeter? i don't think i'm gonna like the idea of installing them into the panel where you will have to cut a big hole. however, i will drill a small hole for a screw and another small one for the wires!

i originally tried to mount these speakers in my MEMPHIS adapter plate which is a 5x7 hole but mounts a 5.25 and a tweeter but that plate only fits memphis components. the polk audio woofer is too big to fit into the hole, and i think if i tried to grind out a bit it'll weaken the plastic and will crack. the component tweeter doesn't really fit in the front of the hole likes it suppose to but will fit from the back but with no adapter. i could probably tape it down or glue it down.

the only other thing i could do is maybe go a audio place and see if they make a wooden plate to mount both of them and make them fit! i am not sure if they can or not.

anybody install componenets in the rear? most people will just put them upfront and just co's in the rear. but i'd like to have great speakers all around. but yet again, it really doesn't matter too much in the rear though.

I havent done them, but do you have a SCREW of SCAB? If you are going to be mounting them, you should flush mount them. They will look a ton better.

If you want to mount them behind the door, you could easily fab your own plate. Get a sheet or 2 of ABS plastic ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ABS-P...spagenameZWDVW ). Trace the factory speaker onto it, dremel it out. Then trace the tweeter and 5.25 on that and dremel them out. Make 4 holes around the edge for the screws to mount to the door and be done.

this is what i'd like to do with all my componenet system! starting with the rear because of the lack of ability to make a good componenet!

i've had components in a plate before and sounded ok, but made a world of difference when i flush mounted the tweeter!

this might be a overall better decision!

I just put Polk db571's all the way around. They fit perfectly and are hidden behind the factory grills. They sound great !!

I've got JL components up front and the Polk 571's in back. I've run components in the back and have found that I had to turn the high end way down on them to get the levels right. For the cost the two way 571's are the way to go and tuning is easy.

i am very interested in how you guys ran componenets in the rear? can you describe you guys did it or show some type of pics?

i don't think i'll be 100 percent happy putting them all on a plate.

however clarion does make a 5x7 speaker that has a separate 5 inch woofer and a 3/4 inch silk tweeter but no cross over. thats what is making me think its a regular speaker! so no way!

I used a 2 inch cup bit and went through the trim. make sure you protect and wrap the crossovers, our doors are not water tight.

when i installed my crossovers i kept this quote in mind, i mounted them with two metal arms on the outter most part of the door closest to the door panel. no way they should get rained on! thanks for the input!

I saw a post on here recently where the crossovers were installed under the window control switch. I thought that looked like an excellent location if your crossovers are small enough. Mine are the huge JL's so no go, but if you can fit yours there they should stay high and dry.

XolieX, sorry no pics of that install...that rig is long gone! However, there is plenty of real estate on those rear doors to mount those tweeters. Try to stay within 10inches of the woofer so you don't run into imaging issues.
