Smile Scangauge Codes

Can someone post the unique ford 6.0L codes that I can put into my Scangauge XGauge feature to use with my truck? I found some of them including the Transmission Temp which seems to work well but the one I found for EOT from the Scangauge site does not seem to work. I'm guessing there are many more I might want to use.

Yes, I'm looking at buying extra gauges also such as the EGT and boost. Can I use the MAP value from the Scangauge as a way to determine boost? It seems to track with turbo activity. Can I just subject 14.x psi from the reading or is it more complicated than that?

Also, are the factory sensors fairly trustworthy for things like ECT and EOT or are extra sensors really more accurate?

Thanks for the help
Steve

I have never found any good working codes for EOT. I have mine set for ECT, tranny temp, volts and MAP.

Yes, the MAP sensor works as a cheap boost guage by subtracting the static pressure. It at least gives you a good ideathat everything is working fine.

That's pretty much what I found to be the case with my DashDAQ readings and my Autometer readings as well.

It's it truly a 50 dollar code reader or is it a code reader that you just paid 50 dollars for? I haven't seen one yet that would work with the powerstroke, I could be wrong, but I haven't seen or heard of one yet.

It is a $50 code reader that sold at retail for $50.

It has none of the Ford specific functions, reads generic codes, but allow me to read the codes, erase them, and go merrily on the way until I get rich.

FWIW I tried some of the published codes for the 7.3L Diesel, such as EOT, and they did not seem to work. I did discover that the Trans Temp codes that work are only one character different in one location of TXD from the generic Ford CAN codes. That might be a hint at how to figure out the EOT value. The support person I contacted at ScanGauge company said they had not found any working codes for the 6.0. She was surprised when I told her many do work.

Our we talking about the generic powertrain module, which is where most of the OBD-II emissions stuff is at or are we just talking about generic codes accross both powertrain modules?

Do you mean not having anything in the way of codes despite having a CEL?

This is the problem that I'm having about a unit that retails for 50. Most units that retail for 50 only get what is required by law to be able to pull from. Which is the generic powertrain as that stores all the emissions related "stuff". Now the 6.0 does have sensors in there, but that's only about 6 or 7 and almost all of that is EGR related. Now your tuners pull from the general powertain and some of the enhanced powertrain as well, that's how they are able to get more codes other then just EGR related. Most of them don't pull from the entire module as most do not have 484 sensors(and that's the number of sensors in the entire enhanced module), in fact, I only know for sure of 1 and there is another coming out to the market that might as well, but I don't know that for certain.

I'm just having a hard time reconciling this as it doesn't make sense to me. If you can do what a tuner's code reading can do, then it is a deal at 50 dollars even if it is just like what a tuner can do as far as diagnostics go. I just need a little more in the way of info on that unit.

Here is the unit:

Autel

MaxiScan® MS309
The MaxiScan® MS309 CAN OBDII Code Reader provides DIYers easy and quick access to Diagnostic
Trouble Codes and their definitons on all OBDII compliant vehicles sold worldwide since 1996.

Works with all 1996 and later OBDII compliant US, European and Asian vehicles
● Easily determines the cause of the “Check Engine Light ( MIL)”
● Retrieves generic (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and manufacturer specific (P1, P3, and U1) codes
● Turns off Check Engine Light (MIL), clears codes and resets monitors
● Displays DTC definitions on unit screen
● Views freeze frame data
● Displays monitor and I/M readiness status (emissions)
● Identifies pending codes
● Multilingual menu and DTC definitions--- English, Spanish, French,
  German and etc
● Retrieves vehicle information (VIN, CIN and CVN)
● Supports CAN (Controller Area Network) and all other current
  OBD-II protocols

Basically, it reads engine and transmission codes at a very basic level.

It does, allow erasure of the codes to the point where the Check Engine Light goes off.

Priceless --- gets vehicle out of limp mode.

When you don't have any code reading / erasing capability, you are totally blind.

That's only going to get more true as the years go on.

I installed a ScanGauge X in my 06 F-250. I have been using the codes (EOT, TFT, AVG, MPG and so on) from Scangauge and they seem to be pretty damn close since Ford is to stupid to put real gauges in there dashes, instead of three position idiot lights. The only one I want is EGT. I tried using different years and eng, sizes but none of them seem to work. Anyone have the program codes for EGT on a 06 with a 6.0?

No glory you have to install a separate gauge for egt and fuel pressure for that matter if you want them
