Help with 360 knock
During one of the last snowstorms, I had to drive my 71F1004x4 to work in the snow (I never do that), anyway, I lost traction on a hill, started sliding backwards, and was blocking traffic. I had to try like hell to get out of way, and I might have over-revved the engine. I have a slight knock coming from the right side of the motor (360). Oil pressure on the gauge is good, not sure if I threw a rod, or what. Any ideas?

It is always possible, but there are other things that it could be. Please read the article on engine noise at http://remanufactured-engines.com/page4.htm for a proceedure to help find the problem.
We always assume the worst, when it is generally something small and easy to fix.
Good luck, and let us know what you find.

if the knock is at idle, remove 1 plug wire at a time and see if the sound changes, usually with no spark the rod won't make much noise. if I remember correctly rod knock is a hollow sounding knock. You can also take a ratchet on the crank pully and move the engine by hand to see if you can make the noise. I had a cracked flexplate that sounded like a rod knock, went away at higher rpm.
