i'm looking to get some headers for my truck and i was wondering what people thought of the summit brand headers. i know that they aren't thorley's but i don't have that kind of money to spend. thanks in advance.
I got some Dynomax headers from Summit, did not cost too much. Had to jack up both sides of the engine to get them in and had to do the starter header trick. I also went ahead and put a new starter in. I don’t went to take them off anytime soon.
Whichever you get, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE 'NEW STYLE COLLECTOR' KIND!!
You will abosultely regret it if you don't. I've order two sets of Hedmans from Summit, the first set was old school, and the second set was the new school collector! I have had no problems with my Hedmans except the set that has the old school collectors.
Andy, I would assume that all new Hedmans are the new style. But, if you order from a place that is selling old stock then it'll be old style. I've got a thread about this somewhere, I'll try and find it for ya.
The old style works fine so long as you use exhaust donuts instead of the crappy paper type gaskets. I went through 3 sets of paper gaskets on my Mopar and finally realized that the donuts will work. Haven't had a leak/problem since.
The new style is preferred though, thats what are on the headmans I just put on my 390.
