Time for new shocks. I'm thinkin' Bilsteins But I'm not sure where to get some for a decent price. Can anyone give me a hand with this?
I got mine on eshocks.com for $64.95 each, no tax, free shipping. The guy told me if I ever have a warranty claim just order a new one, use it's box when it arrives to return the bad one and then they credit you when they receive it. I looked around locally and figured I saved about $30. Hope this helps.
I bought mine from www.shockwarehouse.com They are very responsive to any questions. They told me the same thing about warranty issues. I had 80K on my bilsteins I got from them and the fronts were really worn out. I ended up purchasing some KYB Monomax's from them and shipped my old bilsteins back. I figure next time, I'll already have some new shocks when these wear out. The KYB's have a lifetime warranty, too. Been pleased with them so far.
Autozone carries them as well and they are around the same price as the internet when you include shipping. Got a set of 4 from there after searching both internet and locally.

That's good, cause my local Autozone wanted $70 each plus tax and shipping with a 4 -5 day wait for arrival. Eshocks was $30 cheaper and 2-3 days faster.
O.E. Performance BE5-2815 front, BE5-2816 rear but these are for a F-350 2X4. Go to Bilstein.com and they have a selection guide. Again you need to shop around for them to get the best price. They are made in Germany so your original hardware will be replaced which is included with the new shocks. The front one require a allen wrench and wrench to install which takes some time. Make sure you have the right tools before you start, it furstrating when you don't ( personal experience)
QFD90 the advantanges seem to be a smother ride with a quicker response. I noticed a difference once I installed them. I don't know what they are like on a 4X4 or how the compare to the ranchero's or other shocks on the 4X4.

Yep, another reason why I liked the KYB's I put on to replace my wore out bilsteins. It took a good hour by myself to remove the front bilsteins, about 10 minutes to install the KYB's. The KYB's have a nut welded on so you can use a normal wrench to secure the rod... and it's accessable from inside the wheel well, unlike the allen head recess.
Todd.
On mine it was the bolt on the top of the shock that connected it to the the shock. I had to install the washer, rubber grommet(?), the install it the another washer then the lock nut. The bolt has allen nut in it. I then had to hold the allen wrench and then with the wrench tighten the nut. Lost on allen wrench on top of the motor mount can't get it out. It was a royal pain in the #$%)(#%()^()#^_)#^+_)^*$*. Then to make matters worse I developed a banging in the Front end

Spent a whole lot of time, replace front shocks , great return policy on the shocks though . Ended up be a loose shock bolt on the rear. But in the end every is great and I really like the difference in my ride vs the stock shocks. Just my .02
Wow, that is a big hassle. Mine is just 4 nuts total and the botoms of the front and back have a bolt to slide out and back in. The tops are all a solid mounted stud. All my rubber bushing were all in the shock. I'd have definately done what you did when replacement time came around. BTW, how many miles did you get out of them?
