hey everybody. i have an '85 250 with 351w 4b 5.8 HO
ok this morning i change mr distrib cap and rotor, then when i went to start her up it acted like i had put the wires back wrong so i check and recheck theyre good. i dont know why but when it sounds like it backfires gas sprays from the carb.. not from the inside but 2 small pin holes on the top. never seen it do this but is this from maybe the timeing getting off.
sry if this doesnt make sense because im kinda new at this
when in dought find tdc #1 cyl pull the ncap look where the rotor is pointing and start from scratch if you didn't touch the carb it won't change by itself if you didn't loosen the distributor it won't change by itself the rotor only goes on one way so it has to be plug wire firing order
sry for all the posts but i reeeealy need this fixed today. when i try to turn it over it sounds like it wants to but the carb makes kind of a pop and gas sprays out.
thanks for helping.
SHARPI:. Don't touch the carb.Counterclockwise 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.Look at your cap some are numbered on top,it may only have #1,some have all 8 #s.
