On my 1982 Ford truck when I am stopped at a stop light or somewhere and I try to accelerate fairly quick the motor will cut out and act like it is going to die but most of the time it doesnt its only died once. Is that just a dirty or old carb that needs rebuilt or is it something else the carb has been cleaned but not throughly and there is some rust in the carb. If I timed the motor better would that help.

The fuel adjustment screws are a little rusty, if I would replace that would that help it, would a good adjustment of the fuel help too? I checked the accelerator pump and it was working pretty good would there any other parts that might help fix that?

By your comments, it looks like this carb needs a good rebuilding. If the adjustment
screws are rusty that tells me it needs a rebuild. A carb is fairly simple, but all the
variables need to be in adjustment and it needs to be as clean as you can get it to
function properly.
