When To replace CARB???

Jeepin: I know that many on this site like edlebrock but I a am on old Holley man. Your truck came from factory w/. 4180 holley My exp. has been that a rebuild is good as long as not excessive wear in the throttle shaft area. This carb is basically a 4160 but with EPA mod's from factory. Many adj.have been removed or CASTED over (HIDDEN). IF you Want to replace w holley buy a 4160 w/same jet, pump, acc pump nozzel, cam profile ETC. 600 cfm
Ford used a searies of three base gaskets and alum.heat shield and I never found anybody to make gaskets that would hold up except FORD. I had the same setup and tried a lot of things for increaed perf and better gas mileage To me it was a dissappointment. This eng comb is realiable but it loves gas (11) and a 4.3 gm will make it strain to stay ahead. The newer efi 5.8 is better but the competion will whip it also.

I know I have many fellow FTE people that won't agree ,but LOOK outside the box ,so to speak, The performance won't match a 350.
THIS post will probably irritate some but many other's as well as myseff HAVE BEEN THERE>
GOOD luck on your Holley and its future.
caddy 53 chuck I think I may have orig part # on gasket from ford but they will have to order.
