ford wiring is fine in my car

but i also don't have the bass running of it the sub amp it directly off the battery 4 guage wire

Ford wiring's not a problem. I'm fixing to rewire mine just because I'm going with super high quality stuff and don't want to skimp on anything. If it were me though, on your truck, I would re-run the negative to a piece of the frame.

What if the chassis is going to be coated? How would you ground the radio to it then?

Scrape away paint, fine a place that already has a hole, scrape away all paint and use a washer on the bolt.
