The horn has never worked since I bought the truck. So I bought a new one and it still doesn't work when I hooked it up. I can hear the relay? click under the dash when I press the button but I get no juice to the horn. My assumption is the wire has gone bad somewhere between the relay and the horn. Is there any suggestions before I try and rewire the new horn in?
The only thing you could do is to perform a continuity test. If there is no continuity there is a break in the wire some where. then you will have to replace the wire.
Check ground 108 on the side of the batt..fender area .Follow the Violet light green stripe wire to the relay. goes through two connectors then to the relay.
U mean two horns don't you?
Pull the relay and change it with one of the other one's of the same number.
Good luck you need a test light!
I have been smiling at the thought of an air horn in my psd. I have heard there are db limits for what is leagle in different states, not verified for TX yet. Anyone had good luck with a certain air horn that sounds good?
Initially, I installed a Grover 1022 but that was too low a pitch. It sounded like the cement truck in Beverly Hill's Cop II. I swapped it out for a Grover 1677 and the pitch is a much better match for an F250 psG. (I don't know about a psD) Just in case this setup won't pass inspection, I have it wired with a 3-position switch under the dash that gives me either the OEM Horns, OFF, or Air Horn. Both horns are actuated through the steering wheel horn pad, as it should be, because when someone cuts you off, you don't want to be looking for a second button and you're going to reach for the horn pad anyhow. I run 125 PSI through that single 1677 and it is loud! I think they are rated at 133 Db @ 90 PSI. You need at least a 2.5 gallon tank and a good 12V compressor, medium duty or heavy duty for this project. As a side benefit, I can fill my tires or inflate a spare tire with this setup.
This is an expensive and time-consuming project so he would better off just running a new wire to his oem horns.
