Explorer ABS light, RABS Code 9 HELP
ABS light lit. Grounded wire retreived code 9 (open speed sensor) Ohmed sensor - OK. Replaced anyway. 130,000 miles.
Light still on. Is there a way to check the resistance of the speed sensor upstream to verify the integrity of the wiring harness / connector?
HELP NEEDED.
Thanks.
Remove the connector from the RABS module. (I'm not sure where it is, but I think it's between the steering column and the radio area under the dash). Pins 3 and 10 are the same wires going to the sensor. If you have greater than 2500 ohms resistance, your sensor or wiring is bad. If you have the fault 9, and the resistance is less than 2500 ohms, then the module is bad.
If there is a wiring fault, I would suggest disconnecting the sensor plug and jumpering the two pins. Then read your meter at pins 3 and 10 at the module end to make sure you have little or no resistance. You might want to check each pin to ground (with both ends of the harness disconnected) to make sure you don't have a short to ground. It would be good practice to disconnect the battery before doing any of this.
Good luck.

I am getting tired of the repairs and unfortunately may resort to baiting the shelf with poison. Beats standing outside on a 24/7 watch.
Thanks,
