The ABS light is on in my 2000 V10 4x4. I had a scan done and it came back with code - 1155 left front speed sensor circuit fault, and code- 1158 left front speed sensor cohenency fault ? The mechanic said the sensor appears good and the codes indicate a problem someplace else in the electrical circuit. I cleaned the two connectors on the left front sensor wire and cleaned the connector to the rear vss. No luck. Any and all suggestions welcome. Thank you.
It can be removed and is sold separately. There really is no way to just look at one and say it is good unless they have a way to specifically test one. They aren't that expensive at ~$70 - at least at Napa. I've heard some folks recommend that both sensors on an axle be replaced at the same time. Have you tried clearing the codes to see if they come back?
Here's an image for your reference of the left front sensor:
TDAPPLEMAN thanks so much for the reply and photo. I didn't want to take the wheel, rotor and caliper off if I couldn't remove or replace
the sensor. The odd thing about the ABS light is that it only goes on after I start the X and then take my foot off the brake pedal.
Not a problem - glad I could help. For the symptom - it's after you start and then take your foot off the brake. As in - as soon as the X starts to move? Have you tried stopping hard enough to engage the ABS to see what it would do? Does the light stay on until you shut it off?
TDAPPLEMAN - I haven't tried a hard stop. But, thats a good idea. I'll try it tommorow. I start the X,with my foot on the brake pedal, put it in forward or reverse and release the brake pedal just enough to move at idle speed ( 750 rpm) and the light won't come on, but if I release the brake pedal all the way it will light and remain on until the X is turned off ?!?!.
