I didn't hook up any special ground wire to answer SBV45's question. I thought that the wire bundle contained a ground wire. The "limp home mode" is a super-low power mode that will run engines with no coolant or low oil for long enough to get off the road or to a station. Not sure if the 6.0 has that. Many engines do. I noticed that my engine is a bit more snappy and responsive with the EGR plugged in, but that would only be until the dang thing clogged up and stuck.

Reason: spellin typo
There are two sensors, I found out that average flow, etc. and if they do not sense exhaust flow, it throws the 401 code. I'm told I can get an update from SCT to flash my PCM to not show the CEL on the 401 being thrown. So..you need a dummy or disconnect and a way to flash the codes away.
I'm going to return the dummy tomorrow and try to get SCT to give me a custom update for removal of the CEL EGR problem.
Scott, if it is the 0401 code that is throwing the CEL, you need to let Eric know to turn both the 0401 and 0404 codes off. He will most likely have to contact Jerry@SCT for an Advantage update to turn off the 0401 code, as the present version only has the 0404 switch. I'm sure they will do it for you though.
They said they could turn it off for me completely. I could leave it plugged in and it wouldn't matter because it would just be shut down. This seems to be the way to go.
I will return the "dummy" today. Don't need it.

That is the way to go, but my truck still shows 1 code with it turned off through the PCM as he described, if the DTC's aren't disabled. Just be sure they disable the actual trouble codes along with disabling the valve operation.
Robert..there are certain kinds of equipment that you can have modified to tell the truck's computer to turn off certain things in the engine. It works in some trucks and does not work in others. I may try it...but I'm told it may not work.

ah ok thanks alot let me know how it turns out ...Robert
I know my window sticker says California emissions. But I am about as far as one could get from CA, living in Pittsburgh
we had a dealer try & substitute a CA emission vehicle for one that my 80 yr old mom had test driven. The vehicle had none of the options that the test car had but was the same color & price, dealer scam. I had been playing their fleet dept against a salesman for her over the phone & had the vin#, caught them in their act. It usually costs 800 or more for CA emissions over normal cars, guess it would be the same for trucks. Was told by someone in the know that other dealers take surplus CA's for cheap then unload or scam with them, one of their tricks.
It actually was pretty cool the salesman was sweating bb's & spent at least 45 min with the "boss" trying to work it out. we told them that we also wanted a full size spare & he came back & said that it would be $585 more so we said forget tire , & he said"man they aren't gonna do it", so we settled on a 250 spare but they kept hitting us in waves, the extended warranty, ford financing(she had cash) etc, but after 4 hrs we pd for the car & the sales mgr showed my sister his book we were the only negative # on the list & he told her you guys got us! Only time I've ever left dealer w/o foul taste in my mouth!
Talking to a buddy he mentioned that on another site a reputable tech mentioned problems with clogging up the cat when you unplug EGR .
Sounds plausible enough. The carbon buildup that would happen in the EGR displaced to the cat.
And before you say just delete the cat i would but that would make it easy pickens for the dealer to walk away from any problem you may have.
Thoughts?

That is really something. I would have walked from that dealer. My truck buying experience was so easy and fast with absolutely NO B.S. The guy gave me a price on email which after plenty of research, was the lowest...I told them yes, they financed me over the phone (then I got my own and paid that way), they then delivered the truck to my house 2 1/2 hours from the dealer...sight unseen. They told me if I didn't like the truck, that they'd pick it up and get me another one. The truck turned out to be the absolute best truck I've ever owned. The color, the interior, the options, etc etc. Awesome. I sent the dealer a letter, praising them for such a great buying experience. I would buy from them again. That does not apply to most dealers I've been to. My wife wanted a Jetta Diesel...that VW dealer sucked. We walked. The Ford Dealer in Reno...were bored sales guys who attack you on entry...Another Ford dealer in Sacramento area...wanted thousands more on a lessor truck than what I got after he quoted me even more on the f-350. I told him I was getting a loaded 350 from another dealer for thousands less and by by.
