Yesterday, I did a self test and came up with numerous codes. So in thinking that they were stored from when I was fooling around and looking for my last problem. I disconnected the battery and let sit for a couple of huors to clear the computer. Well aft about 1min of driveing today. Check Engine light came back on. Just did another self test and came up 2 codes.
111= system pass
332= egr valve opening not detected.
Now my Question. How can I get a system pass and still have an egr error?
Also does this mean I should replace the egr?
The pass code is from the KOEO test, the 332 is likely a continuous memory code. It's telling you that the last time the truck ran, the computer didn't detect the EGR valve opening. It could be a couple different things. There's a sensor on the EGR valve that tells the computer how far open the valve is. That could be bad, or the valve might not be getting enough vacuum to open.
I'd suggest picking up a haynes or chiltons manual and testing a couple of the components of the EGR system. One of them isn't working right, but you don't have enough information to figure out which one it is yet.
