Odd Electrical Problem

I have a 93 f150 Flareside 2 wheel drive 5.8 engine. The clear coat was starting to come off the bed finders so I took it to my local body shop to have it repaired. The eletrical problem started up soon after I got my truck home.
The problem is when I've got the cruse control ingaged and use the left turn signal (right has no effect) the cruse control will disingage. I've also noticed the torgue converter will disingage as well. It's like when you apply the brakes. The wiring must be grounding itself out somewhere. Where would you suggest I start my troubleshooting. I have a wiring manual and I am looking into the area of the turn signal selecter assmembly. Does anybody else have some ideas?

No burnt out bulbs. Every thing works fine except when using the left hand signal kicks off the cruse control and toqure convetrter lock up. I tried the left hand signal at highways speeds without the cruse ingaged and it kicks off the converter lock up then too.

Does your left hand signal light work? If not wiring might be crossed. I've never got a vehicle back from a body shop yet without some mevhanical or electrical problem. Worst was a gas tank filler hose clamp not done up. Found it before I had trunk full of gas!

Further thought, they may have crossed signal and turn light leads. You might get backfeed into brake system and that would kick out cc.

It must have something to do with the fact that the rear turn signal and the brake light share the same bulb filament. It could be as simple as replacing the bulb (even though it works) or it could be the turn signal(multi-function) switch. I believe the brake function also goes through the turn signal switch. The switch could probably be tested for this abnormal condition if a person was good with the proper info from a good manual. It also could be shorted together wires. Just my thoughts.

Check the ground in the left rear light. They may have painted it so it dosn't have a good ground. I had that problem on a repainted truck. Good Luck

I vote for the multifunction switch. It sounds like the left turn signal function does not properly work and is feeding signal back into the brake light circuit. Put a meter on the right side brake light when you try the left flasher. See if you get any indicated voltage. There should be none.

However using the wisdom of "look at what you did last" I would also check out left side grounds on the rear. These could have been disturbed during the painting operation.
