does any one know if there is a way to adjust the throttle response on my 04 supercrew? I seams awful sluggish when I rev it up. its the new 5.4 engine. I herd that on powerstrokes theres a spring on the electronic gas pedal that you can adjust or bend to help throttle response. any help would be great , thanks
Oh well, my turn. These trucks are drive by wire, no spring will help. You should complain at the dealership, tell them what you posted here, and they should reflash your PCM to the more modern settings. This should be under warranty. If on the other hand, it doesn't fix it, you might have an actual problem, not the 'lazy' programing that they used up until a few months ago.
Most have reported a decent throttle after reflashing. You might do a search in this forum on Throttle or Response. Should get some good reading.

would the 2005's have this? Mine seems a little slower than the 2001 4.6, it takes a bit of practice to get the feel of it so you dont lurch evrytime the light goes green.
2004 F-150, 5.4, 4x4 scab, 10,000 miles. I have had the "wrench" light come on 2 times, which is the default for the throttle. Both times they said a reprogram of pcm will fix. I did have the re flash to a newer program. I wonder if they are still playing with the programming yet.
Exactly. This is due to the drive by wire setup these new motors have. The only way I have found to make these things enjoyable is http://www.motorhaven.com/home.php?cat=273

Have you reinstalled the stock tune, and see if the same error code is there? I know Ford has had some issues with the throttle assembly (had to have something replaced under warranty on mine, and the tech said that he had to redrill a hole, because it was crossthreaded from the factory!) I would try this, and if it is still there, let your local dealership know about this problem (while omitting the tuner information).
Are all the new trucks 04 and after having this problem, I drove an 05 black FX4 the other day and was ready to buy and then I test drove and just thought it was a dog from 0 to 60, on the highway was ok but nothing to brag about. I want to drive another to see if any difference, but was definitly disapointed with the first one.
Why should anybody HAVE to buy a tuner after spending 20-30k on a truck?
The truck should run the right way from the factory.
I think Ford and the dealers should deal with this issue. It sounds like they did a rushed and crappy programming job for the code that governs throttle response in the computer.
Also, won't having the tuner installed cause the dealer to just basically claim you modified your truck and deny any warranty claim that may be related to it? I've heard lots of people having problems with that.
