So I was going to move my 1986 f150 4x4 and I didn't realize the keys weren't in the ignition when I turned it anyway and voala the thing started up! How can I fix this? How easy is it to change the ignition over, I have another 86 f150 parts truck could I switch be possible?
You bet the swap is easy, just turn the key to the on position, and there should be a small hole underneath that you can put a small allen wrench in to depress a small keeper and the whole mechanism should come right out. And the other one should just pop right in. At least that's the way it goes on my truck. Yours may be a littl different.
If you don't have tilt steering, you have to pull the steering wheel, but, other than that, it's basically the same, depress the retaining pin and pull it out.
