how long do they last?

One of my 84's has 225,000 on it with original motor, never rebuilt...yet. Valve guide seals have worn out again (a prob with the 2.8 motors), so it's smoking some right now. Just replaced manual 4-speed for the first time and did clutch for the second time while I was in there. A second heater core has rotted out that I'll have to change one of these days. Other than that, it's been a dream and alot of fun.
It even survived a 5 car pile-up on the interstate after getting hit on the right front bumper by a car changing lanes, putting me into a spin at 65 mph, hit the car following me head on (picture THAT one, if you can!!!!) and after completing a 630 degree spin, slammed into the guardrail backwards at 45 mph. Mine was the only vehicle able to drive away with just some minor body damage. Tough little critters!

LOL - no, no fault on me at all for the accident. The guy in the lane to my right swerved into me, which sent me into the spin. Forgot to mention that the only thing that kept me from going through the guardrail and going SPLAT on the railroad about 100 ft below us was the receiver for my trailer hitch catching on the 24" high concrete "wall" that the steel guardrail was bolted to. It got mangled really bad, but didn't tweak the frame at all. Just had to replace tailgate and tail light lenses (bulbs still worked. go figure), front bumper and pound out a few dents.
After having 3 '84 models, I tell ya...keep up with the maintenance and don't go playin' "Dukes of Hazzard" with them, and these bad boys will last you a LONG time.
