how long do they last?

Hey guys i just wanna know if you can give me some idea as to how long my little bronco is gonna last me. According to the odo its going to click over to 60,000 in 18 miles. Im sure its really 160,000 though. Bust seeing as how they didnt even put a hundred thousand mile number in the odometer, it makes me wonder if its supposed to be lasting that long. So anyway, how long have yours lasted???

my 1988 has 179000 on it, only thing i did after my father passed away and it was given to me was had the clutch done, put a new radiator in it, had 2 water pumps, new gas tank and sending unit, valve cover gaskets, used rear end, and complete brake job done on it in the last2 yeats that i've owned it, and regular maintainence done on it

My '89 has 244,000 miles and still going strong. 134,000 on "new" engine. 4th clutch, rebuilt tranny twice for noisy bearings, new master/slave @ 220,000 I think if you keep up on the maintenance and keep the oil clean they can last quite a while.

Thumbs up B II's never die - they just fade away ;-),

My 89 has 177,700 on it. 5 years on the German Autobahn at 80 mph (130kph). Still has the original motor, new waterpump, alternator, heads replaced at ~ 48,000 due to "manufacturer defect", clutch at 125,00 just becuase and just replaced the fuel pump. However, It ain't dead yet! incidently they will do at leat 105mph - but I wouldn't do it for long ;-)

My 88 has 48 000 kms on it and its been running pretty well, ive only had her for a year and a half but i havent had to do much to it. all ive done to it is a brake job and replace the drive shaft after i blew one of the cv joints out of it racing my friends mazda protege. I killed my DS but i still won the race so i was happy lol

Yea you should be good for a while, but just keep it cool, and oil changed and all that fun stuff. I have 160,000 on mine, just turned actually, and haven't rebuilt engine or put in new engine or anything. Take care of it, and it'll last you a while. I've done 115 mph in mine, but only becaue of oversized tires.

Expect to have it for awhile. Pretty close to 370,000 on mine. Rebuilt tranny 2x, fuel pumps 3x, rebuilt motor 1x. Just had a mechanic work on it for a small problem and found out the lower end is on its way out real quick (70,000 on the rebuild) and compression varies in all the cylinders. It still runs strong, it's my daily driver, 625+ miles per week. Going to drive it 'til the bottom falls out and then shoot it and bury it

Keep it cool. Mine was fine until 185,000 +/- 5000, (it's been a few years) when the radiator hose busted, cracking the heads between the valves on 4 of 6 cylinders, causing it to leak coolant into the engine, taking out the bearings. Sold the thing at 195,000.

Hey All...

Just going thru the forum when this one caught my eye.

Bought my 1990 B2 in Nov. 2001 just before being deployed pretty much for the next 4 years but the original owner took VERY good care of her! I had a stack of maint. records!

I put a lift (susp. & body)on her. I replaced the radiator, replaced the clutch fan w/ electric one, replaced the water pump, alternator, exhaust and brakes.

She still runs great and goes where I want her too. I'm just shy of 190K. Plan on rebuilding the engine when it finally gives up. I don't push her too hard but I do have fun!
